Specifications of Gases in Gas Powered Airsoft Guns

A gun is a weapon consisting of a metal tube from which projectile is fired at a high velocity into relatively flat trajectory especially (a) a portable firearm such as rifle or revolver, (b) a cannon with a long barrel and a relative low angle of fire. In short a gun is a weapon that discharges a missile at a high velocity.

Airsoft guns are replica firearms that fire spherical projectiles of different materials. Airsoft guns are designed to be non-lethal and provide realistic replicas.

Types of Airsoft Guns

Spring powered guns

Electric guns

Gas powered air soft guns

Hybrid guns

Spring Powered Guns

Spring powered guns use elastic potential energy stored in a spring. The guns
Airsoft Ammunition
are incapable of semi or automatic fire. These guns are generally inexpensive than the electric guns and gas powered guns.

Electric Guns

Electric powered Airsoft guns use rechargeable batteries to drive an electric motor. These guns are developed in Japan. Common types of Electric guns are as follows;

Low powered electric guns

Medium price electric guns

Electric blowbacks

Mini electrics

Automatic electric pistols

Gas Powered Airsoft Guns

These guns are capable of automatic and semi automatic operation. The most common used gas is the "Green Gas" and "Propane" which requires an adaptor. HFC-134a is also used with pistols which have plastic sliders. Less commonly used gas is the "Red Gas" (which is actually HCFC-22) with CO2 and nitrogen/high pressure air. Usage of HCFC – 22 is actually unlawful as it is an ozone depleting substance. Red gas is usually avoided as it has got high pressure. The first gas powered air guns are refereed as "CLASSIC GUNS". These guns were powered by liquid propellants such as R-12. Later R-12 was replaced with CO2. One of the reasons for bringing up this change is the cost. These gas are now days used in grenades.

Hybrid Guns

Hybrid guns are the new types of Airsoft guns. Hybrid guns are usually Gas blowback Airsoft Guns. These guns are usually more powerful.

Performance:

Airsoft guns gas shoot plastics at a velocity from 30m/s for a low end spring pistol to 200m/s for heavily upgraded customized sniper rifles. Airsoft guns can be modified to increase the pallet speed, rate of fire, reliability and accuracy.

Safety

Airsoft guns are relatively safe when compared to electric and spring guns. Face mask is recommended to protect eyes and teeth while using these guns.
